edit: im currently writing an essay on this for my history class and dissecting it for myself and rewatching parts of it has made me bump it up from a ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ to a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. truly a masterpiece of documentary filmmaking and even more endearing to me for how much it reminds me of the works of apichatpong weerasethakul, at least stylistically. what a painful subject matter but so beautifully and compassionately addressed.
