I have been meaning to watch Mammo for a very long time, ever since I chanced upon the trailer on Youtube; contemplating if whether or not a NDFC subscription might be worth it. I did not.
At the end of a particularly low day, I decided…TODAY! would be the day I laid eyes and opened my heart to the magic of Farida Jalal as Mammo. As I suspected all those years ago, Mammo was worth every fucking second. The comfort film I knew I needed today.
It just breaks my heart that along with Farida, Surekha Sikri also never caught a bigger break in portraying strong female characters. Farida was 44 years old when took on the titular of Mammo, a woman who only kept getting older and older.
My 3000th film!
