Twelve Angry Men

I was gonna watch the 1997 version but I stumbled upon this. The original teleplay the movie is based on. 

Old TV is fascinating. This was done LIVE! And that’s so alien to me today. LIVE DRAMA?. This is reserved usually for soap operas these days. It’s kinda a fascinating insight into old school television. The version I watched on YouTube even included commercials which were done live too. 

It’s full of errors, cameras are in shots at points. It’s pretty cramped, the sound isn’t very good. It doesn’t have the beautiful lighting choices and sharp close ups of the 1957 film. It’s TV, so I’m giving it a pass. This story is good enough to carry mountains. It’s just missing so much of the little things that make the film version work. Juror #3’s reasoning unveiled in that rant at the end, them figuring out the woman usually wore glasses. The whole analysing the kid if the kid went to the movie theatre thing isn’t here. 

Normally shorter should be better but I think the movie version adds a good amount of necessary stuff

Essentially a play, live on tv, all by memory from the cast. Not as strong as the 1957 version, but only because it's shorter. Still very impressive.
