I really enjoyed this film, specifically about women in labor in East Germany. I loved the switch of gender roles and the critiques on Taylorism. Specifically, I loved the parallel of Chaplin's "Modern Times" which we see in the factory scene which makes fun of capitalism yet shows how the women are trapped to bear the brunt of the workload. I also noticed the themes of collectiveness and intimacy which we see characters contrast and within the hotel scene. I also enjoyed the lesbianism in this movie which plays into the intimacy and emotional connection of the women. The direct refusal of gender norms among the girls is parallels by a reminder that gender roles do exist which creates contrast that adds consciousness which I believe is an intentional awareness when the film plays into gender dynamics. Overall, I have a soft spot for feminist media, very well done.
