out of all the [as] failed pilots from the 2000s, this is the most infamous and beloved of the bunch (which includes heavy hitters such as Welcome to Eltingville (my favourite), Saddle Rash, Penguins Behind Bars and (technically) The Xtacles) and for good reason. it is violent, over-the-top, and a damn good parody of the sword and sorcery subgenre of fantasy.
this was met with critical acclaim and fanfare from the viewers, and was initially seemingly given the all clear for more episodes but was cut down before production could begin on the series due to financial costs (this was [as] in 2006, their most expensive show to produce was probably 12 oz. mouse (I.E. THEY AINT GOT NO MONEY FOR A SHOW OF THIS SCALE)
this is a grotesque thing to look out, which i fuck with heavily, often reminding me of the brothers grunt and king star king (which is a compliment despite those shows being very much less than stellar)
this was very cool, and it had all the makings to be a hit. lead animation directing from Genndy Tartakovsky (aka Mr Dexters Lab, Samurai Jack, SYM-BIONIC TITAN, Primal oh and also fucking uhhh Hotel Transylvania) VA from Diedrich Bader, John DiMaggio and Tom (FUCKING) Kenny, and a unique setting of a dark, post-apocalyptic world where both remnants of modern day tech and Heavy Metal-esque fantasy coincide. but damnit this had to cost like 45 billion dollars to produce and we never got anything else (just like fucking uhhh WELCOME TO ELTINGVILLE (i am so angry about that))
