Ups the ante in several ways compared to the first, the aerial photography work alone is astonishing, as well as cutting most of the buildup that slowed the first half of the original quite a bit. It doesn't really know what to do with its large cast, as much as I love Myrna Loy in this she really doesn't have much to do except sit and be wonderful. The cast is just colorful more than anything else, which is fine but the first film definitely used its cast to better effect. Also, why is Gloria Swanson literally playing herself? That's just kinda random. Anyway, it's fun enough, but less refined than the original.
