the only real reason to watch this is if you have an hour to spare and want to see a pre-bogart bogart. there’s shimmers of greatness throughout, but not enough to make it work.

I mean it’s just a little 67 minute movie that wasn’t all that special. Baby bogie before he was a big name was cool. It wasn’t like bad in any way but there wasn’t anything that special to it.

So you’re telling me that Humphrey Bogart’s character was bright enough to be able to learn Napoleon quotes, yet didn’t know what the word “moronic” meant….💀

Also, he looked really good here. Ditto for when you look up younger pictures of him. I think it’s a myth that he was an unconventionally attractive star. He just didn’t age particularly well and by the time he did Casablanca (which is what he’s most recognized for obviously), his face was already weathered. As a result, he’s associated with how he looked during that period rather than in his prime.
