Early precursor to the Giallo with some obvious Krimi influence. Antonio Margheriti directs from a script co-written by Mario Bava. The plot focuses on an all girls school where some black gloved killer is picking off the students and staff. Despite the lurid title, Naked You Die is a rather tame affair - preferring a quaint mystery to a blood soaked murder spree. The film has a relatively high body count but the primary modus operandi is strangulation so not a lot of blood is spilt. It's a single location movie with a small cast which gives it something of a claustrophic feel with plenty of red herrings....though disappointingly it becomes obvious who the murderer is really early on given that there's only ever one character acting suspiciously. The focus is always on the mystery itself rather than any horror implications - there's a few creepy killer POV shots, but not much more than that. The ending is not a massive surprise, but it is rather well worked - and it makes sense too, tying up the opening scene and a couple of other plot points. Some extra credit for that catchy theme tune! Not exactly a classic, but it's enjoyable enough stuff and worth a look
