Anita, a brave young girl with Down’s Syndrome, is lost in Buenos Aires after the explosion of a bomb at a local Jewish community center. Her mother, who was there at the time of the bombing is either dead or missing. While her brother and his wife are on the search, Anita wanders through the city meeting various strangers who try and help her. However, it’s Anita who truly effects the lives of those she comes across.
I was thoroughly impressed by this film’s ability to capture the spirit and peace that Anita characterized. It may be because of my own biases or prejudices that I wasn’t sure was to expect from this film, particularly from the main character’s performance, but I was completely won over by Anita! By the end of the film I had a new perspective on people with Down’s Syndrome.
