Such an interesting film about isolation and loneliness. As the writer continually drinks tea, and reads stories in solitude. He begins receiving strange phone calls from a mysterious woman in a loveless marriage. The woman is lonely, she constantly longs to speak to someone and make a connection but she cannot. She constantly calls random strangers to make a connection until she calls the writer who reciprocates that. I feel like I get her in a way because she's being really honest and truly authentic with a stranger who she doesn't know, doesn't know his name, or has ever met him but she feels that she can tell him anything she can. There's the title, the confined it reflects how isolated and lonely these two people are. I feel like the ending is very interesting too just to see that there was something unsaid, something that perhaps the woman might regret, or the man will never know that was the woman he spent nights speaking too. It's something that's haunting and beautiful in a way. So strange but it feels to deal with themes of human pain and longing and the yearning. It's amazing. Mrinal Sen gave such a good direction for this film and honestly was amazing doing it!! Anjan Dutt gave a terrific performance as the male lead. Also loved Dimple kapadia in this was my first film of hers and she expressed so much emotions but was very subtle in this and I liked her performance. Also loved the cinematography and the atmosphere it's slow but haunting and that's what makes it worth while.
