Not really a sequel. The original is not one of my favourites, but it's certainly easier to appreciate after having seen this.
It's not terrible at all, but it's pretty run-of-the-mill, certainly less ambitious than the original. Instead of a charming Boris Karloff, we get the beginning of the zombie-like, heavily bandaged mummy monster, slowly walking towards you with outstretched arms, a trope that we know so well today. In that sense, this strange little one-hour film is incredibly influential.
But it's still nothing more than a decently good time
