In New York, Sheila Bennet and her spouse, Matt Krane, are trying to unload a trove of rare jewels they smuggled into America from Cuba, but the police are hot on the couple's trail. picked this movie on a whim. at no point did i have any clue where this was going. i thought it would be a more straight forward noir/murder mystery.
diamonds??? smallpox??? all of a sudden the husband has a weird accent?? the most antagonistic landlady in the world???? the mayor of nyc umpiring a kids’ baseball game and getting called out by them for a bad call??????? fantastic punch sound effects! real heavy thuds!!! a crazy scream as the husband falls!!!!! and then that bummer ending/love letter to public health workers. idk man.
loved the cinematography and the dissolve transitions during the height of the search.
