I fucking love Steve Coogan, which is probably why I’m not calling this film shit. A very of-it’s-time comedy that has better laughs than most, but too few to make it good.
The story is stupid and doesn’t make sense at times. The range of comedic characters is bog-standard but somewhat effective. What carries the film for me is Coogan’s brilliant character acting.
For a comedy whose whole purpose is to make you laugh and not think, it’s not as funny as it should be. But I suppose it manages to land on its feet, despite the incredibly cliched ending. I’ll keep hold of the DVD, and give this another chance down the line.
