okay, yep this is the most wild film I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying a lot! i could just list off countless absolutely insane scenes in this film, but they really need to be seen to be believed. the opening alone is absolutely insane and really sets the mood for the crazy film you’re about to witness! really annoyed at myself for not checking this one out sooner!
the film has an amazing balance of drama, weird comedy & disturbing ancient torture scenes that keep it engaging throughout, like seriously not a single frame is wasted here. really great ending too! the cinematography, set and costume design was really nice too! the performances were great all around also.
overall, an absolute new favourite Cat 3 film and a new favourite in general! Potentially even a 5 star on rewatch! incredible, weird cinema. the vinegar Syndrome release has a really great restoration and highly recommended.
