I think I remember seeing that Clarke didn’t adapt casting the runes at the BBC for budgetary reasons and you can see why. Now with an even more constrained budget at ITV, none of Clarke’s stereotypically gorgeous frames can make up for a film that’s lacking real fright and a coherent message.
