A very strange film that is not going to be everybody’s cup of tea. But I do know that films like this are going to stick with me for a while, and when done artfully, I can respect the hell out of that.
I originally thought that "Under The Skin" was going to be style over substance, and in terms those expectations, they were not met. To be honest with, I could go on and on all day about how great this film looks, but I will keep it concise: there’s a sense of cleanness, but with this discomforting vibe to make it feel slightly uncanny. There’s not much to talk about in terms character, since it’s mostly silent, but the themes, which I will not spoil, prove to be powerful in the end.
Like I said, it’s not for everyone, but it gets me going. After a while, it could become a personal favorite of mine.
