Director- Tsutsumi Yukihiko. This is the fifth work I have seen of his, and it is the sequel to SPEC Birth (2010).I do need to search for why Tsutsumi made the sequels to be films, but I assume it is due to monetary constraints. The way it unravels the story and adds much more depth to the series is fantastic. The reveal of the ending of SPEC Birth made us wait two years, but it was worth every second.Finding out that Saya has the power to summon dead SPEC users and use their powers was a brilliant reveal. It also makes sense why they made her lose her left hand, as that was the hand that let her control this power. This allows some great cameos from Doctor Ryota Unna (Disease SPEC holder), played by Yasuda Ken, Reisen Toshiaki (Prophet SPEC holder), played by Tanaka Tetsushi and Ninonae Juichi (Super speed SPEC holder), played by Kamiki Ryuunosuke. It was a great idea by Tsutsumi not to give her a SPEC till now, as it allows Saya to prove herself as an insanely good detective who doesn't even need her SPEC to apprehend the criminals. The reveal of the character from the ending of episode ten of SPEC Birth is done well. Coupled with the reveal of the big bad's SPEC, it worked even better. The reveal of the first surviving victim being the true villain was an awesome twist that I would have never been able to anticipate. The same was the case with the construction worker.Finding out that the victim had the SPEC of copying every person's SPEC whose DNA she got was an awesome reveal and makes her a great opponent to Saya. The antagonist didn't really have to kill anyone to get their SPECs. This was the main reason she lost, as Saya could summon the original SPEC holders to defeat her copied ones, as a copy can never beat the original. The film not only has great action and comedic gags, but also heartfelt drama elements, too, with Saya's dealing with her power. She believes that it is too powerful for her to handle and that she may become a monster after using it too much. This makes her use the doctor's SPEC to mute all senses from her left hand at the end of the film. The film also sets up three new antagonist characters at the end, and one of them is hinted to have an ice-related SPEC. This makes me anticipate the sequel and how good it will be.Overall, this one is a banger too. Hope the rest of the series maintains this quality.
