What a fucking weird plot structure. It takes forever for the bulk of the story to get started, but it turns out that the movie isn't even about the story, it's (as corny as it sounds) the journey. I don't know if I'm using this phrase correctly, but it feels like a character study more than a movie. The entire story is just watching Wilson grow (or at least addapt). They make it seem like the daughter thing is going to be really important, but that whole chapter only takes up the middle third. It was kind of funny, but most of the humor leaned heavily into cringe territory and I hate that brand of comedy. I can say all of the acting is pretty solid, but no one is exactly given a lot to work with.
