i'm going too be very, and i mean very biased about this entire trilogy. 20th century boys is my favourite manga ever, and seeing the live actions, no matter how inaccurate, just seeing my favourite characters and scenes in live action will just make me happy no matter what. this adaptation isn't good, nor is it a bad one. there was no possible way too make this manga with such a massive scale and with so many layers into 3, 2 hour long movies. it just doesn't and i'm pretty sure for most, it won't work. with the resources they had i think they did a pretty good job, but i can tell if i didn't read the manga first this would be a confusing mess, just like the manga. i like how they showed a lot of the foreshadowing but at the same time, the thing that actually made it "foreshadowing" wasn't actually there, just the little action or the little thing someone mentioned but was barely pointed out. this movie has a great cast in my opinion, the casting choice for all the characters, especially otcho was the best casting choices for anything i've seen in a while. i'm just so glad this even exists, im so curious too see what they're gonna do with that very very different last arc that in my opinion will just be impossible too recreate in live action, but with their budget i feel like they might js be able too pull it off, just barely tho im not gonna get my hopes up. they rlly did condense the first 50 or so chapters in this movie, and the fact they gotta do 217 chapters for the next 2 movies is just like, yea it's not gonna work whatsoever but even so, too see the "expo" scene in live action i'd do anything for it, even without the mad tension and excitement. this removes alot of backstory and alot of character development from some of the main cast, but they couldn't actually tell a full on movie without removing them, like the entire shogun introduction there was no way they could've pulled that off without making this about 3 hours long, same for the start with the blonde girl looking at the robot, like from the first chapter of the manga. i won't say who it is or nothing cause i don't wanna spoil the manga nor these movies. i love the soundtrack, im happy they used TREX'S 20th century boys, like the manga did instead of js using their own song. and hearing bob lennon during the buildup too new years was amazing. im so curious too see what the next 2 are gonna be like.
good movie
