I like that it focuses more on the impact of the affair than on the actual affair. The wife clearly knows what’s going on, but can’t do anything about it. The kids know their dad isn’t interested in their grades anymore or what they’re up to. The traditions of the Jewish community were broken and everyone feels it. Yes, they’re in love, but in a very selfish way. Ezria hurts the people he tries to love and isn’t satisfied. He even eyed Aaron’s wife as if she was his next target. So I guess it didn’t work as a love story if that’s they were going for, but more of a look at the devastating effects of a selfish love affair.
The framing and blocking are exquisite, but the picture looks like something from the 1990s. Obviously had a very tiny budget. But the acting was great, the dialogue was well placed and it’s an overall nice little film.
