Trashy to be trashy john waters knock off shit isn’t usually my speed, and sadly this tips the scales a lil’ too much right iff the bat. It really needed to be paired down.
Set in some ambiguous retro decade, it almost seems like they intended it to be the 60’s and then decided it was the 80’s half way through which is distractingly polarizing.
The loose premise is that Candy and her best friend/gay brother prank call 911, navigate growing up, and occasionally take care of their younger brother who is wildin’ out, while their mother is more concerned with appearances. It’s all loose though- nothing is ever narrowed down.
A lot of potential buried in a lot of throw away.
Some of the costuming is great, some of it is absolutely terrible. This is so manic.
