"The day rock took over junior high, i made my first friend."
i said this in my last 2 reviews from this trilogy and i'll say it again, i'm going too be so heavily biased on this. holy fucking shit the last act of this movie made such a interesting decision which rlly turned it away from the manga, y did they completely disregard fukube till the end???? WHAT. ehh even so i don't get why the put the credits during the bob lennon song and then did the other part of 21st century boys after the credits but did a half of 21st century boys before the credits. if it genuinely ended like that, i would've been baffled and honestly a bit disappointed. i'm so glad i stayed for the credits tho cause the last 10 minutes which was just essentially the virtual world part of 21st century boys ended this off in the way i wanted it too end. i loved the reveal of friend, i think it was done well in this, especially considering how much they changed especially in this movie. a lot was removed in and changed in this movie, like the yoshitsune situation which i thought was strange, like really strange but they actually somewhat pulled it off imo. i can tell why this is received as a mixed bag tho, there's alot of pacing issues particularly in this, the last 2 movies flew in but my god there rlly was a lot of pacing issues. i think this is the second best in the trilogy tho, overall this trilogy was just really enjoyable. not a good adaptation but it ain't a bad one either, the ppl who call it bad just can't see how smart some of the changes were, even if they did for some reason disregard the lie of 1970 and the entire haunted house situation. fuck it they just disregarded fukubeis character as a whole until the last half hour which icl, kinda pisses me off. the manga should not of been made into a 3 movie franchise, but instead should've just been made into an anime like monster or pluto. even so this trilogy is just so interesting, the fact they had the audacity to adapt something of this scale into 3 movies is just mind blowing and for me they pulled it off in a nice and smooth way, the soundtrack is underrated and i rlly loved it, the casting decisions was fucking amazing, the story was pretty rushed and i think it was pretty easy too understand considering the changes they made so it would appeal more to audiences, the script is like shockingly bad, but considering the manga it's based off, imo it would be so hard too adapt this with anyone sounding normal cause the manga itself is very dramatic with the way everyone speaks but seeing it on film is very surreal. i love the cinematography, especially in this. great cinematography. btw considering the budget this had, the cgi was brilliant, i just had too say that,
good movie
