As much as I love a western that’s opening theme song explains the movie, shall-uh-koh is a little flat in places.
It is about a group of rich assholes who pay some low-life cowboys to take them out hunting on land that is off limits from a treaty with the apache. They think because they are rich and white that nothing applies to them, and they completely disregard everything and cause a gigantic clusterfuck that gets nearly everyone killed.
Sean connery tries to talk sense into them but y’all know how rich white folk are.
It is great that it showcases how ignorant people can be. I love that the main women were very opinionated- bardot’s character rebuffs an arranged-ish marriage which is something that for the time would have been very controversial, and she does a majority of the shooting, while Honor Blackman doesn’t bother to hide the fact she gets a ton of sidedick.
I’d say while this isnt the best western, it is a worthwhile addition to any western watchlist for Bardot alone.
