You know it’s good when it’s got me audibly going, “woah.”
All I can say is this is the kind of kid’s movie I’d describe as “transportive.” Not transportive as in it takes me somewhere, but some time. This movie, like my favourite kids’ movies, effectively turns me into a 5 year old through the power of its visuals. It makes me nostalgic for something I actually wasn’t there for.
Very much a Saturday morning cartoon vibe, but one that pulls out all the stops and offers treats at every turn. It’s got virtually every anime hallmark in the books. Young boy has pack of robo mech dogs who can combine into a jet and he fights space aliens.
Basically, if you like any combination of astroboy, megaman, voltron, cyborg 009, macross you’ll dig this.
