“The rats…. are all in your mind”
wow.Strange film to say the least, and the low score on here is really surprising considering the low view count, as a film this strange i would have assumed that it had some kind of a watch ceiling, for its absurdity and courageous storytelling.
The plot (without major spoilers):Mike Pikney plays Mike Pikney in a story written and directed by Mike Pikney (😳), who is essentially a dog groomer who is a loser cinephile who spends his day making avant garde experimental videos that no one watches (no I am not making ts up). Then we learn through a poster attached to his windshield, that a dog named karma is missing and has been abducted by transvestites. Mike is somewhat inferred to be an amateur filmmaker, as he pitches a cat adaptation of Carrie, to his producer Sebastian who is played by Flula Borg for some reason. Of course Sebastian thinks this is a horrible idea and rejects this. After this he meets a young girl called Cora, who surprisingly doesn’t actually flame him for being a loser, and takes interest in his own interests. After this somewhat positive interaction in his almost entirely negative life, Mike realises that he has a problem. His apartment is being overtaken by rats, which are maybe mutant.
So anyway that’s really the entire build up, but onto the film as a whole. The film is almost entirely recorded on a cam corder, except for a short period between when Mike first meets her, and then when they start having sex. I think this is an alright metaphor for how she (whilst shortly), improved his life greatly.
The ending of this film is kinda bonkers, somewhat similar to my favourite film oatmeal House, where;
SPOILERS
Cora dies or is implied to, from her cat allergy. The ending is edited really strangely but overall greatly, with lots of overlays and shi.
The editing throughout this film was phenomenal, the dialogue was terrible but peak at the same time, and the characters felt great. I think the little snippets of Mike’s films were really funny, overall absolute peak film (Considering top 8)
edit: forgot to mention there’s a close up shot of a black man’s soft penis
