Yakuza Law has a lot that I would have loved if it stuck to what it was good at.
I picked this up on a whim at a video rental store because of how fire the description sounded, and seemingly, none of my mutrals have watched it. When you hop into this film, you're met with a killer intro. This part might be one of my favorites because I thought that would be the tone for the rest of the film. The soundtrack is actually weirdly good, like a mix of a western and an old Kurosawa soundtrack.
The first of the three stories was the best, as well as the most brutal. But as we get into the rest of the stories, it slowly and slowly gets pretty boring. I like the second story, but that last story killed all the moments this film had.
They focus way too hard on executing a good story that connects with the viewer rather than giving me the shock and gore that I was wanting. It should have just stuck with what they were doing in the intro, the crazy, outlandish torture to me defined what the rest of the film was going to be. It looked fake, but it was so crazy it gave me a rush, leaving everything else feeling pretty bland.
Not even mad, just disappointed.
