Out of all of Lewton’s productions, this could have the strongest sense of character. Doesn’t have much of the iconic and utterly beautiful images RKO’s works are famous for (even if the sight of Wade’s shadow moving with the rocking of the boat is orgasmic), but Dix’s Captain Stone is just perfectly written.
