i have a love hate relationship with this film just based on nostalgic reasons. me and my dad have so many inside jokes from this movie that we have said over the years, he used to love this tv movie. we used to quote a lot of these lines when i was very little, it brought back so many happy memories.

keanu reeves and kiefer sutherland being in the same movie was incredible, jane feinberg, mike fenton, and judy taylor certainly did god’s work casting these talented actors. you could definitely tell that young keanu reeves was going to go places.

speaking of the actors, lori laughlin was great as christie and was needed for this movie to work in my opinion. as for my favourite, well this has to be billy zane. zane is fantastic at playing psychopaths that eventually go completely mental, that’s the factor as to why I enjoyed ‘dead calm’ so much when i watch that with my dad too.

Transposing a true story from Fort Worth to Santa Cruz is certainly a choice. Also, can you imagine a movie where both the white racist gang AND the mexican street gang that confronts them both reference Pinochet helicopter rides?
