Even beyond the premise, it's clear what an influence this was on The Old Man and the Gun which I quite loved a few years back. They share a similar focus on the gentlemanly thief at the end of their career though here the time period allows him to act as a conduit for a more general evolution in American society. Farnsworth pulls off a mature performance filled with a kind of pathos that doesn't make Bill a figure of pity but leaves you wondering how long he could really exist in this new world. Absolutely lovely and filled with gorgeous shots of the American countryside.
