The way they keep calling him a giant gorilla 🤣 was bigfoot or Sasquatch not a big myth back then? Maybe Hong Kong didn’t get the memo that there was a mythological giant hairy fella already
Plot is even thinner than King Kong and Mighty Joe Young, which I watched recently funnily enough 😆
I liked all the miniatures and other set pieces getting destroyed by the big fella, I find stuff like that very charming and 1000x better than CGI slop we’re fed these days
I just know Gigi was drugged to shit during the shooting of this film 😭 Surely a big cat wouldn’t let you manhandle them like that?! Same goes for all the other exotic animals like the tiger and elephants etc. Animal ethics/cruelty aside the novelty of having all the animals in this on top of the “giant gorilla” kept things entertaining whilst it was in the jungle portion of the film
Once the characters arrive in Hong Kong things become a bit lame ngl, again I enjoyed the kaiju esque destruction but overall it wasn’t fantastic
I enjoyed this film as a quick 90 minute monster film but it’s hardly anything to write home about 😅
