Interesting set up… but really quite a weak lead
Sort of the best things here are done better in countless other films, and what it brings to the table in its own right just snakes on for far too long I think
Going in circles over and over and then pretty unrewarding climax, but a pleasant surprise in one way that was cool
Also also I did like the interactions between the farmer crowd and samurai lead
It was interesting to see their debates, but they were quickly dulled and silenced by big strong ‘what I say goes’ trope that just kind of sucks when it’s done this way
Doesn’t feel like one to waste my breath like picking apart
Got what I came for pretty much
Easy going samurai period flick is a tick
Occasional cool shot composition
And boom
Some weird subtext tho coming from the script here
Prehistoric ideologies here just a bit of an eye roll to sit and listen to
They kind of got buried in the latter 80 minutes of the plot but its just so frustrating to sit and listen to like come on guys it’s 2026 they really should know better by now I mean really come on everyone we’re in the future now
