“Doctor Who is required”
One of my favourite things about Doctor who are the little tardis moments throughout episodes, and having grown up with NuWho, a big blue police box sticks out like a sore thumb in today’s society. The Tardis being a recognisable object in the present day of the Hartnell era is really cool, and just shows how the face of Doctor Who (the Tardis), has outgrown its normality in society with the longevity of the show (apologies for my terrible wording).
I guess the theme of advanced A.I taking over was popular in the 60s with the release of Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey”, and rightfully so, as today, A.I is one of the most prominent talking points in society. I’m sure soon enough armies will have their own War Machines powered by Grok.
Some pretty good cliffhangers in this serial, with the doctor’s aura walk, plus the kidnapping of Ben and Polly from 60s London. I’ll miss Dodo, even if her stay in the Tardis was short lived.
Notes:
• I enjoyed the opening shot of the city skyline, followed by a clean Tardis materialisation
• Another screwdriver reference before the sonic screwdriver was invented!
