3 stars because I actually felt something. Angelito had my heart from the moment he was with the Bernal brothers. Joven isn’t even a real person but they made him feel so real, like the voice of the kabataan who just wants to belong and be seen. It was like watching them try to shield him from a world that’s too heavy for his shoulders.
Like, I was attached to the characters even though I knew it wasn’t going to end well, and that’s a testament to how well they built the emotional tension. You could literally see how everyone was just trying to protect Joven, even if it was going to cost them everything. Ugh, why do these historical movies hit harder than I expect?
Really liked it though. A perfect prelude ♡
