I’ve only seen the first one and this, but it does seem to me like “Love off the Cuff” is the most insular of the trilogy, as our two leads Jimmy and Cherie have to finally face the major issues that threaten to tank their relationship that were previously hinted in the first film but are brought to the surface in the third.
None of these movies are perfect, but after watching two of these flicks I’m convinced that Jimmy and Cherie are probably my favorite rom-com couple of the past decade. Yes, they are probably terribly annoying in real life and I’ve definitely met people like them who I refuse to touch with a ten-foot pole, but their struggles are probably the most relatable out of the bunch. That, and actors Shawn Yue and Miriam Yeung’s chemistry is off the charts.
