“Sad cartoon carrot” is the best description of Thomas Middleditch I’ve ever heard.
I didn’t hate this, because I love when grown adults have child nemesises but I guessed the twist the second the embodiment of male sad writer type’s fantasy fix-all-my-problems girl showed up.
This male archetype really bothers me- the thirty something man who clearly expects the women in his life to care for him and when they can’t or won’t he has a tantrum and we’re supposed to feel for him?
His best friend is basically his surrogate mom.
But he’s kind of charming so it’s excused. This is an insane double standard as women in film with this personality trait are portrayed as clingy stalkery ex girlfriends for comedic effect.
Again, though, i didn’t hate this because I love quantum physics and dialogue heavy comedic suicide stories. And as it progressed I started to like it, because in the simplest form its a very pure look at someones mental breakdown trying to piece itself back together.
