I went into this film expecting it to be cringe... but I was also expecting a good plot. The storyline was all over the place: it had too many characters (I couldn't keep track of all of the kids), the story telling is discombobulated and why is Michael marketed as being the main character when he's literally not.
For over half the film, I thought Timmy (?) and Brian (?) were the same kid. The only reason I realised they weren't is because Brian got poison Ivy. (that comes up once in the whole movie why is it the title?). And I can't even name the rest of the kids. I know one of them is a baseball pro and another's brother was good at sports and they aren't? Also WHAT THE FREAK IS A PX TICKET.
It also had way too many storylines all at once - especially when it's marketed to be a romcom between Dennis and Rhonda. Literally nothing ending up happening between them, and I'm not counting the forced kiss at the end. The storylines were all too much to keep track of... I literally could not tell you any of the plot aside from : Dennis likes Rhonda but Rhonda is engaged, Timmy can't swim and Brian has a crush on Rhonda (??), one of the kids want to go home, colour wars I guess? It makes no sense.
Also, why is Michael marketed to be the main character? He's on the poster 4 times and for what?? I came into this expecting a cringe little romcom between Dennis and Rhonda set in a camp... not whatever this was.
This is so obviously a TV-movie... extra points because if it focussed on one plot (Dennis and Rhonda), it could've been good. Also because of a couple Michael scenes... and Michael was just generally really good in it.
