i find that it's difficult for short films to make you care about the characters but superpower girl in it's constant ominous state makes you genuinely worry about it's protagonist wellbeing, and while the "bullied kid gets superpowers" it's an known trope, i enjoy it every time, the commentary on the risks of (academic) pressure, jealously and alienation in the horror genre also has a tendency to feel more sincere, and in superpower girl it doesn't feel preachy at all and almost like a second thought, as if it really didn't want to teach a lesson but more to tell a tale
i also like it because i can feel the director had fun with it, that's my superpower
