Despite knowing the journey... and where it leads... I embrace it. And I welcome every moment of it.
What an amazing spectacle by Villeneuve.
By the end of do movie I was completely floored by the themes that this tried to approach.
The whole time that the world was dealing with the arrival, it really reflected on the way of the world of dealing with situations. This didn't came as surprise, as most alien movies are of this fashion, but when the subject of study is just a mystery it felt very satisfactory in terms of message clearness. Great plottwist and great message in the end, that I felt that was really nicely executed.
Negative points for me were the fact that the point that the movie tried to convey really glorified America, against it's evil partners such as Russia or China, and there was really a shift on the last minutes of what the film was trying to deliver to the viewer, changing from an appeal to what is to be human, especially in community, to a more introspective study of death, the ephemerality of life and the importance of its experience (now it fells more correlated than when watching the movie), which I think could have been more present.
Despite all of this, I feel like I enjoyed this more than the majority and that this is one of the best alien movies (very controversial), being one of the best by Villeneuve.
