Corpse Prison: Part 2

Sleazy, low-budget thrillers like these can be very fun. The kills from the first, which were incredibly sparse, are ramped up here, with wonky blood splatter effects to imply off-screen kills. Aside from the deaths of the girls, a lot of the deaths are presented in a way that makes you really fucking glad that they’re being killed. It makes for some cheap fun even with the salacious content - which is thankfully kept to a bit of a minimum. When you compare this to the manga that it is based of, the presentation seems a lot more tame, and that is fine. I doubt this would be enjoyable if it went to the lengths of the manga

again it’s fine. slight preferred this to the first part as this one is just crazy and has a cool ending, but it mostly is still just mid. there is more gore here but it looks kinda bad at times but still good overall. these movies had a pretty cool concept but mediocre execution, perhaps due to the budget restraints. maybe I’ll give them a rewatch and like them more someday, but right now they are just quite mid and only worth watching for huge J-horror fans.
