I can't believe a place like this existed into the 2010's. Based on one man's feelings that the one thing AA was missing was that no one was forcing people to do the steps, Élan was like prison camp boarding school for juvenile delinquents. The pacing here us great and every fifteen minutes, we're hit with a new revelation that shines a new terrible light on the situation. It is pretty structured and we do get a lot of different perspectives, but it still feels chaotic a lot of the time and they drop a lot of interesting plot threads (all the law suits are mentioned and then disappear). I read other reviews that liken this to one of those true crime exposé and I can see that. I'm not sure what I am supposed to get out of this other than "Damn, I cant believe that happened" with a splash of torture porn. It's eye opening and fascinating, but there isn't anything that would warrent a second watch.
