The sheer amount of cunt radiating from Crystal Eyes needs to be studied. The lighting/color palette is ethereal, the costuming is stylish and sleek, and the way the characters speak is so angelic to hear. It all reminded me of Blood And Black Lace and other classic giallo films.

I wanna talk about the characters, because I do feel like there was a bit too many characters to spend time with, and that they were developed to varying degrees. But I really loved Eva as a false final girl, she has a lot of charm and her character reminded me of Tao-li from Blood And Black Lace. Especially because, towards the end of the film, Eva shares a similar haircut to Tao-li.

In terms of kill set pieces, they are very stylistic in line with classic giallos, but they were also really bloody. I did get a bit mad because the characters just stood and where screaming instead of taking any action.

Now let's talk about the star of the night, which is the killer! Dare i say, best costume design for a killer ever! The way it shines in the neon lighting is so yummy🤤 like this is MUVAAAA! The identity reveal was kind of meh cos it felt like it came out of nowhere, but i can easily easily forgive that. The scene where she puts her hand on her waist and struts while holding the knife was soooo cunt! Oh my god! You can tell this was made by gay men and we thank you for your service.

Overall, i had a great amount of fun with it and it needs to be seen by more people, especially fans of giallo and pastiche films.

I wanna talk about the characters, because I do feel like there was a bit too many characters to spend time with, and that they were developed to varying degrees. Man this film right here was such a hassle to try and find because it was one that took me about almost a hour to try and locate where exactly i could sit and watch this one since it’s one that you can’t find anywhere online on any movie websites because of how extremely underrated this one is and the only 2 platforms that i could locate it were on apple tv or the app plex which i went with plex even though i hated having to sit through the ads to would pop up throughout the entire film but it wasn’t all that bad for me but enough rambling about that and let’s get into what i thought about this and i’ve got to say i absolutely loved the 80s feel that this film had to it and i know that the film takes place in 1985 but what i mean by 1980s feel is that how this film looked like it could have been made in the 1980s and not in modern day because throughout the entire thing i kept forgetting that this wasn’t made in the mid 1980s but rather the year 2017 like they got down that 1980s feel so well with the look of each of the characters and also their hair and wardrobes that remind of that time period not to mention the iconic 1980s makeup looks that these fashion models would have back then but also not even just that i also wanna talk about the amazing shots that this film had with the many beautiful shots mixed in with such pretty colors like i know this one was taking inspiration from many giallo films in the 1970s/80s and those are some of my absolute favorite type of films and the many amazing directors that came out of that genre of film like for instance one of my favorites has got to be mario bava and how in particular one of his films titled blood & black lace from the year 1964 kept coming back into my mind each time i was sitting down watching this one and it was mainly because of how both of these films kind of follow the same lead with both having a killer on the loose attacking and slaughtering these young and attractive models and also going back to the beautiful shots with color which we also see as well in mario bava’s film because that was one of the many aspects to these giallo films from back then and then moving on the deaths in this film which i might say were decent in my opinion because for the most part they were your standard we get the victim looking into the camera while giving us this scream as the then killer butchers them occasionally we got some blood splatter mixed in to give that more grim look to it but my favorite death would have to be towards the end of the film where are supposed “final girl” of the film gets impaled through the chest by this glass stage prop of a bird that the silhouette of her just hanging there from this prop is one that is gruesome but also very grim to say the least and then lastly i’d like to talk about the look of the killer and also the reveal of the killer so i’ll start with the look which i’ve got to say has to be one of my favorite designs seen in one of these films because the costume was so fucking CUNT like the black raincoat mixed in with some black heels and then the very creepy mask with the makeup all done on it while it having these very dead eyes to it as well which i get since they were going for that very mannequin look for the killer which they absolutely nailed with how some of these poses that killer would be doing were such literal serves and just so divaish which i loved and now the reveal of the killer which was one that wasn’t surprising to me and it’s not because i thought it was obvious who it was but because the killer in this one wasn’t even seen throughout the film rather just once in the entire thing like how was one supposed to guess it was that person doing all the killings when they were on the screen for 2 minutes and then i get that the killer of this one was the brother of the model who had died at the beginning of this film but i got to say that i was confused at the reveal because was he being possessed by the spirit of his sister and her wanting to murder each of these individuals that were around at the time of her death or was it just the brother himself trying to avenge the death of his sisters which i might say was the cause of her own death but nonetheless this one was a decent watch for me like it wasn’t anything to out there or one we haven’t seen be done before.

A movie that replicates low budget 80s slasher movie to perfection all though that doesn't make the movie great,my biggest problem with crystal eyes is sometimes it can drag on and feel a bit boring but everything else is amazing from the music to the acting and the directing,the premise as well is a really interesting one,i never thought that super models and slashers would work so well.
