A French noir story of Monsieur Hire, a reclusive man who often perceived as disorienting nuance due to his asocial, voyeuristic behavior in society, his implicit knowledge about a murder case that happened in small and barren town became a weapon used by some people for their own gain.
Panique pertains to preenial social allegory about how people can gullible enough to be easily manipulated under false pretense and their tendency towards a person who unwittingly being accused for something he didn't do. Like A Bicycle Thieves (1948), this movie provoked a livid emotion in me. Both movies depict a bleak moment where the protagonist was treated with such a harsh and humiliating tone because of the lack of collective empathy and blatant disregard that ended up with an ironic conclusion.
It's an amazing noir movie with dense atmosphere and beautiful cinematographya and definitely one of my favorite blind buy purchase.
