When people started melting into gray oozing goop, I knew this was a winner. I didn't follow the story at all, in part because all the voices are modulated. But that same modulation taps into a sensory experience that is certainly felt. I think the moment of repeated sounds from the twins in tonal sequence reenforces the idea that the movie is primary supposed to be "felt." And it is.
I have no exposure to dadaism, so I don't have any frame of reference for the art style. I really liked it though. It's eclectic with the highlight being the water colours. It adds a palpability to the visuals a la Belladonna of Sadness. It pairs well with some of the more bizarre visuals.
The visuals aren't as abrasive as Belladonna though. As crazy as the film gets, the sense of conflict is low. The description says the film is about a group of stoners, but I didn't get anything that inferred that. Nonetheless, the mood or vibe of the film is very stoner-esque with a subdued energy. Just the visual of this floating yellow submarine-esque hand is philosophical but chill.
Should be a treat for any psychedelic movie hounds or people who love the strange and bizarre. This one's definitely for the weirdos, like me.
