LUCKILY I AM ONE!
This whole special is very sweet but also is rushed and borderline boring. I don’t blame them, they weren’t allowed a script treatment as it was the writers strike, but for 90 minutes it did drag at some points.
No Brady Sequel ever got all the kids same actors in one place, (except the Brady brides, criminally underrated) this round we are missing Cindy, which I don’t mind. It’s very obvious when Jan and Marcia is replaced and it doesn’t feel cannon, but the Cindy actress does her job quite well and looks like an older Cindy. Also Susan Olsen is quite controversial this day and age, so I entirely can look past that it’s not Cindy.
I really don’t like how this special spends so much time on all the in-laws. I am a Wally Logan fan, but why is half the special dedicated to him? I’d really of preferred it if they came up with a scenario where it was just the 6 kids found themselves trapped together at Christmas.
Also the kids writing it pretty bad. I feel like the Brady’s kids need to be iconic new characters cemented in legacy, but they’re just forgetful and boring.
Jan and Phillips story line is so fucking funny. Laughed outloud when they actually talked for 30 seconds and then called off the separation and had sex.
Alice didn’t miss a bit. Neither did Florence and the GOAT Robert Reed.
The ending is entirely rushed with the most eye rolling conclusion ever. Fits the cheesy Brady brand though!
Overall there is so many problems with this special, but it’s one of the better sequel projects of the Brady bunch and I feel like (most) things made sense for the characters future. I wish it wasn’t rushed and focused on the 6 main Brady kids MORE! (also we are ignoring the canon of the sequel series to this special the Brady’s!)
It’s 2.5 but I still liked it because I just have a fascination with this family and series and history and this is very passable! Actually heartwarming believable follow up just kinda misses the mark everywhere else lol. Still good Brady!
