The extreme close ups and detailed sound design gave life to the film and really pulled you into every movement the characters made. I often lost myself in many scenes just paying attention to the little details and sounds that I could pick up. I felt very close to the characters and what they were going through.
I really liked the film’s themes of seeking freedom and choosing your own path in life. It seemed like Laura was trying to understand her own identity and take control over her life, but she often crossed her own boundaries to do so. Her studies of philosophy and eventual relationship with Djamel are her way of overcoming the control her family has over her life through their religious faith.
