Well-intentioned but well intentions only get so far when the execution is so misguided. A few simple changes could’ve allowed this story about self-acceptance to shine more, even if in the end it would end up being rather similar to other films with the same message. The use of a trans actress to play a trans role is admirable, but the film inadvertently likens being trans to being a sideshow “freak” if only by association with “wolf boy”
