i’ve got to say that i liked how in the beginning of this film it had you thinking that the character of allen was the gay one because of the way he dressed and the music he liked to listen to but then it switches and you get to actually see that the captain of the soccer team todd was the actual gay one hiding like it just shows you that even though there’s stereotypes of how gays are so supposed to “act” and “look” there’s people who don’t fit those stereotypes that people tend to have and they are often people you may know or know around you because being gay doesn’t have a certain look to it so i did really find this film to be a great watch and it shows how some men have such a difficult time with their internalized homophobia and wanting to fit in with the “normal” crowd and not wanting be shunned or look at with disgust and in the end the main guy came to the realization of his sexuality and accepted himself even if that meant losing people he thought were his genuine friends because who the hell needs people like that in your life when all they do is being nothing but negativity last thing i’d like to say is it really irks me when some straight people see queer people has some sort of creatures or walking diseases just because they love the same gender like please grow the fuck it’s 2024 and bitches are still out here being homophobic…

I saw this in 7th grade (1987) and it was before I came out but I always remembered this After School Special being a first for me knowing I wasn’t alone in the world. It’s on YouTube if you wanna see!
