December 7thSince I'm watching 24 Christmas movies It's only natural that I would watch some from my home country. So today I watched 'Julemandes Datter' and tomorrow I'm gonna watch it's sequel.
The movie suffers quite a lot from something many movies starring child actors suffer from. They are just not very good. Especially the boy, It wasn't a great performance. However it's not exactly a surprise that the kids aren't that great, so I wasn't disappointed.
On the more positive side I thought the story was rather engaging. It was relatively fast paced, which is good as the dialogue and acting wouldn't be able to handle a break in the plot. The main character was also a good character and compelling to watch. You could argue that the movie is woke for the sake of being woke, but I thought It worked well for the movie.
Many of the jokes (almost all the jokes) didn't work for me, thought they were all rather lame. Something that did work for me though was all the Santa lore or whatever you wanna call it. This movies take on how Santa works and the characters in the Santa universe was fun and creative.
The movie is made for an audience younger than me and I could see it work for them. There are many things to appreciate about the movie, its well made and compelling, but certainly lacks in many departments. None the less a fun little Christmas movie
