This was excellent.
Ringo Lam‘s work is more toned down in comparison to some of the other Hong-Kong Directors, but he is perfectly good at this.
This film is really great to first establish a great relationship between Tony Leung Ka-Fais and Chow Yun-Fat characters, that feels real. But you still always feel the presence of the danger here and that there not free people. The only Moment were you really at ease and everything feels good is the new year scene, it’s such a beautiful scene, but my favorite is the one were both characters cleaned the canal and then just sit some and laugh. Such a wholesome scene, it’s perfect.
The ending is also insane. Chow Yun-fat is so mich fun, going completely crazy.
Roy Cheung is also really good as the antagonist. He has such an aura everytime he is in screen. Frightening.
