this is a solid fun mystery thriller film. pam grier getting clues by seducing people of political power without even trying. these mfs are being used and don’t even know it, they think they pulled a chick. but nah, she’s just juicing the info out of them. she doesn’t need to be holding a gun to be a badass. she literally just has an aura of badassery throughout the entire movie and i don’t know how she does it.
the romantic yet professional chemistry between colt and friday is subtly one of the cutest and sexiest things in the film. this film solely admits that friday is the brains of this operation and colt is the backup with the fists and the gun. throughout, many people die and hardly anyone cries, we move on to the next obstacle where more people die but watching friday do her thing is just so empowering.
friday foster is like a buddy cop mixed with an african american hitchcock film. it’s also a film about the existence of white america in black neighborhoods and how it’s invisible. the white capitalists don’t need to be shown in this film to exist. the motive is there and just makes sense.
